Could have been such a good game, but falls very very short; the best aspect is the art direction.

When I first heard about this game and what the developers were going to do with it, I was jazzed.

Loot in the form of weapon "pieces" that you could put together to build weapons that you want to use in wonderfully customizable ways.

A huge clip, fast firing shotgun? Done. Silenced tactical rifle with medium fire rate but a massive caliber? Sure. Super accurate pistol that is built to demolish a certain type of foe? Okay.

But no, it seems they rushed the development or some sort of lame excuse, and just made another algorithm loot generator that spits out 100 POS guns for every one that is worth something.

The original idea of a group based co-op FPS with locations and maps that are newly generated on each load-up was abandoned, and you just run through the single player storyline twice to finish the game. Yes, twice - it's the exact same map and NPC interaction, just with harder enemies. What is this, an NES game?

The game goes from moments of absurd ease, to unfair fights as you level up, as if there were no testing done. Your character can get stuck in the environment on a regular basis. Money in the beginning is low and ammo is scare - midway into the game, you actually accumulate more money than your display can show you.

Despite four heroes to choose from, they can all use all the types of guns. None of the heroes have any durability, so it's just a glass cannon situation over and over.

There are a lot of faults to Borderlands, but only because it was slotted to be so good. Now, it's just a sloppy co-op that is fun to run around in with your friends, but lacks any real depth. Too damn bad.
