A little bit of everything

User Rating: 9 | Borderlands X360
This game combines my favorite elements of RPG and FPS-ers.
RPG:
1. Rewarding level ups
2. Distinctive talent trees
3. Beautiful, creative, open-world environment
4. Unique, customizable characters
5. A ridiculous amount of guns - loot whores rejoice.

FPS:
1. Crisp, accurate weapon firing. All the way down to the audio, shooting feels and sounds great in this game.
2.Fast switching between weapons, using the D-Pad has hotkeys. (Xbox360)
3. Depending on your level, and difficulty setting, you can make this game as challenging or easy as you would like. I found that it felt rewarding either way.

Other areas this game excels in:
1. Vehicles handle extremely well, and the aiming-while-driving system is very intuitive.
2. Headshots propel fragments of skull hundreds of feet into the air. Some weapons fire special types of ammo (smiley faces in the case of one shotgun that I found) This, among other small touches make the game that much more entertaining.
3. The story was surprisingly intriguing. I don't want to spoil any of it.
4. Co-Op play is twice as fun, and twice as rewarding, with bigger and better loot.
5. Replayability. Play as a new class, play as the same class with a new skill concentration, play the DLC, play Arenas or Co-Op for fun. This game seriously holds its value.

Problems I had with this game:

1. Vehicles seemed very weak. I understand that this was to encourage players to get out and do some legwork, and shoot their hard-earned guns. However, in some missions where vehicle combat was absolutely necessary, be prepared to get torn apart a few times before you figure out how to approach the situation.

2. I think this game has serious PvP potential that the Arena system doesn't amend to. If there was a way to hop straight into PvP without having to join a game and run to an arena, I would bet that a lot more people would still be playing online.

I haven't played much of the new DLC, so if any of this information is now inaccurate, or null and void, please let me know. Thanks, have fun.
