Fun. Repetitive. Fun. Repetitive.

Borderlands, Borderlands, Borderlands.... You are an odd game, a truly fun game and a very repetitive game. My experience with borderlands was a unique one, essentially it's one game I have played for 10 or so hours, thoroughly enjoyed every hour I played but found myself becoming quite bored as there is virtually no story and the game play literally doesn't change from the first level. Waiting by my side was a giant pile of games that still has titles from 2009 I had needed to play yet. After you see the bulk of the environment, try out the types of guns, meet the kooky characters and enjoy a truck load of body part dispersion via your range of weapons there really isn't much left at all on the refreshing home front and you will find this gets extremely repetitive.

I found the mix of RPG, FPS, and loot whoring to be quite entertaining albeit for only a portion of what was available to play. That said any game I get a solid 10 or so hours of fun out of I cannot complain about the price of entry. The graphics are unique in that they are cell shaded in a mature toon'ish way. I say mature simply because the art in this game is not that on the Disney channel. The guns feel good, the loot system is streamlined, the character progression through leveling offers enough detail to feel like your decisions have a meaningful impact and the amount of blood is equal to the volume of one of the Great Lakes.

Bottom line this is a good game to play if you enjoy shooting guns and getting loot. It's an even better game to play if you don't have many others to play at the time so you won't bore easily while pulling in a possible 20-30 hours and it's an amazing game if you play with friends as that helps to eliminate the bulk of the boredom that ensues when you realize this game doesn't change anything but the things you kill starting from level 1.
