This is a good game but may not be able to compete with some of the other games in its class.

Borderlands is an interesting experience.

It feels like a shooter (similar to Homefront campaign in controls) but plays out more like an RPG. It tends to lean more towards the shooter aspect, but the open world and quest structure definitely gives it a role play kind of feel.

You basically go quest to quest and shoot some enemies who either run at you quickly or shoot you. This can be very fun but typically feels a little empty at the same time. I tend to walk around and very rarely see any NPC's who are not enemies. Because of this, it feels very open and kind of boring or even lonesome when walking or driving to the next quest.

One of my favorite aspects of an RPG is the ability to go where you want and always find something new and interesting. This is not a strong point of borderlands. Most of the time, the quest objective is an item lying on the ground or a bad guy to kill. Nothing too unique.

One of its strong points could be arguable as a weaker one as well. This is in regards to the random weapons you will encounter across the map. It has been told that no two weapons are exactly the same. This is true. However, every weapon looks similar to the others and there is no customization of said weapon once you pick it up. if you like the gun, but don't like the sights, you may want to find a new gun.

However, the shooting is pretty crisp and the game play is quite fun when you are immersed with enemies.

The graphical direction is interesting and unique. It gives it its own look and feel which stands apart from its peers.

But if I would compare this to other shooter/RPG hybrids such as Red dead redemption (although it is 3rd person) or Mass Effect it does not stand up. It is less interesting, it has little to no story, and almost no character development (or characters at all).

It main plus is that it shoots well but it is no Call of Duty or Battlefield in regards to game play and it has no competitive multiplayer to keep it interesting over time.

I would rent this one first.

You can buy it for $14.99 currently at target which i would say would be completely worth the money.

it is not worth 60 dollars tho.
