2K has certainly delivered with this witty number.

At first, I have to admit, I was a little sceptical about this unique twist on shooters...after all, who ever heard of 87 BAZILLION GUNS? Buuuut, then I played it.

They weren't kidding.

In my opinion, Borderlands is an instant hit. It delivers with subtle humour (as well as the 'over the top' variety), and a very comfortable shooting dynamic. Although the story itself isn't too involved, you'll find yourself forgetting all about it as you simply go on the hunt to blow the heads off the local wildlife and the multitude of bandits that pop up from every corner of the vast world of Pandora.

The four playable characters seem varied enough to cater for almost every playing style (though in the end, they all use the same big-arse guns). The weapons handle very nicely...however, the vehicle physics leaves a little to be desired. In the real world, a car will not stop dead when one wheel hits a small stone. Also, hitting a real car doesn't send it flying (though that glitch has come in handy from time to time).

Even with its few shortcomings, Borderlands will offer days upon days of hilarity, action and bloody entertainment. It's definitely worth the money.
