My usual Good vs. Bad review (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! You have been warned)
The Good:
~Yes, the graphic style change did catch me a bit, and I didn't like it while looking in magazines, screenshots, etc... However, actually playing through the game and getting the feel of the games style really isn't that bad. Actually, it's quite an enjoyable art style and with all comparisons aside, it is an original style as well.
~ There REALLY ARE tons of weapons. Now I don't know about "Bazillions of Weapons" like it says on the box and website but there are definitely around a couple thousand or so. Then again I could be wrong seeing as how I picked up and sold a majority of them...
~ Following weapons are the abilities and defense mechanisms, which also have a wide variation and mass amount of different kinds. There are even (of course) abilities that are character exclusive.
~ There are a lot of enemies in this game that all have different abilities, attacks, and looks. There are even different kinds of the same enemy with the title "Bad***" that give the player extra experience and are tougher to kill.
~ There are many quests in the game. Majority are the usual "Kill _____" or "Kill certain number of _____" but there are still gathering quests, and even rescue missions for a key character in the game known as Claptrap. (You may have seen it in commercials or magazine ads as a robot.)
~ During some quests there are actually boss battles. Many of the bosses are just like normal enemies that have a lot more health, while there are some that are totally different in many ways. These ways can include size, color, weapon type, and even an overall appearance change.
~ Multiplayer only really consists of Co-Op, which is good for the fact that many expected nothing more from it. However, inside of the Co-Op are hidden areas called Arenas, which are places the player and up to 3 others can have either a Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch.
The Bad:
~ There's only few problems with the game and one of them are the sound glitch. As great as the sound for this game is, it constantly seems to mute itself for a few seconds or just skip after awhile of playing.
~ The story is pretty confusing. I mean the player can try and make sense of it but hey, good luck. (Spoiler) What the player is looking for the whole game which is known as "The Vault" doesn't get explained much and well... when you find out about it, the player will most likely still left VERY confused...
~ Though it doesn't matter much in the long run, the game is ONLY first person, meaning there really isn't much of a need for character color change.
Both Good and Bad:
~ There is no full character customization. Instead you pick a character based on ability and change his/her look (Hair color and Clothing color only)
Overall this game is full of mixed emotions. I mean it could be a buy if you like first person shooters, roleplaying games, blood and gore, a lot of weapons, or a fun co-op experience, but it could also be a rent if you DON'T like any of the listed things. 8.5/10.
