Is the hype around braid really true, or is this game just another mario bros?

When I first saw the free trial offering of braid on my xbox 360, I was imagining how much the trial would fail at winning me over. after a few seconds, I was dumbfounded. The hype was true, and I downloaded the game right away.

Braid starts out with an amazing painted night-time cityscape behind a shadowy character-like figure, with the word "Braid" raised in the sky. you soon realize that the game's title screen is really the first screen of the game.

Braid's graphics are the first thing to be noticed. The developers managed to make some of the most amazing 2-D graphics I've ever seen, looking like they just came from the canvas of a famous artist. Screenshots don't do the game any justice, though, as braid is infinitely more beautiful in motion. Another artistic quality that the game has about it, is its music. They all fit the tone of the game perfectly, and are very emotional.

while many will take a look at braid's graphics and base mechanics and call it a "super mario bros. rip off", the ones who decide to look deeper will find an incredible story with some amazing concepts. The game's story revolves around having second chances, and so does the gameplay. the first world introduces the ability to rewind time at will, meaning that the hero of the story, tim, will never die. The puzzles all revolve aorund this base mechanic as well, and as the game progresses, each new world introduces a new way to play the game. For example, in one world, moving Tim forward will cause time to move forward, while moving Tim backwards will move time in reverse. Each new concept is mind blowing, and the game's ingenious puzzles are even more so.

Any gamer who wants an enjoyable platform adventure NEEDS to download this game now. Heck, anyone who simply wants to have their mind blown needs to buy this gme. It's moving story and revolutionary concepts will entertain and confuse the minds of many.
