Before you judge, finish the game; it will leave you stunned.

User Rating: 9.5 | Braid X360
First of all, let's decide what type of game this is. It's neither a Metal Gear Solid 4 nor is it a Grand Theft Auto 4; it's a 2-D platformer that comes to you with a big heart.

This platformer has a slight twist from most others: it is very much story-based. With the use of symbolic images, names, and puzzles, the story of this unique game unfolds.

The story, however, isn't a straightforward one. Pieces of the story are available to read upon entering the room of each level, and while reading it, you are left slightly confused.

Later, though, each piece comes together to form a very perplexing story which leaves you craving for more. As you solve each puzzle to progress through the levels, you learn that each puzzle symbolizes an aspect of the story.

This is where the game gets interesting. Each piece of artwork, each method of solving the puzzles, each name the levels bear, all symbolize an part of the story which all comes together at the very end.

The last level.

The final level of Braid is one of the most memorable in gaming history. The use of time manipulation comes in to create a two-sided story that leaves chills running through your spine; however, for the sake of not spoiling this amazing phenomenon, I will not mention the meaning behind this beautiful, creative, unique, and stunning experience. You will have to see for yourself.

RATINGS

Graphics- 10/10: Although not technically proficient, the graphics in Braid are artistically beautiful and symbolically aid the player in further understanding the game.

Sound- 10/10: Mario has his own theme song, Snake has his, and now Tim steps forward with a tune of his own. The songs in Braid are memorable to the point where simply hearing two seconds of any of the game's melodies will burn it in your head for years to come.

Gameplay- 10/10: This unique gameplay mechanic brings an experience unlike any other. With the use of time manipulation, this game brings about clever methods of solving painfully difficult puzzles all while ingeniously contributing to the story of the game.

Value- 7/10: Sure, this game's great; however, the game can be completed very quickly. Quick games call for not-so-lasting memorabilia. Unfortunately, you may find yourself playing this game only twice at most.

This adds up to a score 9.25, but seeing as how this game is simply amazing, I will give it .25 points of extra credit.
