When was the last time you played a game just for the fun of playing a game and enjoying a lighthearted story?

User Rating: 8.6 | Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer PS2
I decided it was time to start completing some of the games in my collection and I didn't want to start a lengthy RPG, I wasn't in the mood for mindless blood, guts, and slaughter, and I didn't want something that was going to suck me in and keep me from my daily routine. In fact, I don't get to play console games that often because, quite frankly, I don't have the time to sit down and enjoy one. I figured Brave: Search For Spirit Dancer would be the perfect distraction...and it was. Even with the surprisingly short length, easy gameplay, and childish graphics and story, I enjoyed the game from start to finish. There were a few irritating moments, but nothing that would make the average gamer throw their controller and shout obscenities and complain about how impossible it was. I ran through the story in approximately 7-8 hours, but didn't collect every last hidden totem in the game. That could probably tack on another hour or two for those who like to explore and find everything. The only problems I had with the game were a few spots where the camera would get stuck in a bad position, and the help system seemed to hold your hand all the way through...but then I found out you can adjust the level of help system about 2 stages from the final boss battle. So, if you're reading this and thinking you might want to try it out, I say give it a run...just turn the help system down or completely off for more of a challenge and enjoy it for what it is...(which I describe as a cross between the movies Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear) It's a fun distraction that plays like a great Disney film.
