This game is a great RPG. It may not be final fantasy but it is challenging and has a great storyline. Buy this treasure
Gameplay: It's a very standard RPG. Nothing really pushes the envelope but it works just fine and there is some fun to be had. There is spells attacks defense all the usual rpg fighting mechanics. One cool feature is linking your parties attacks. so if two different moves from different characters go together they will combine for extra damage. also the main character has the ability to transform into a dragon and do a lot of damage. but basically its pretty standard
Story: this is where the game truly shines. its up there with any of the FF games if not better. the story starts with princess Nina and her body gaurd Cray out in search of her missing sister Elina who apparently has been kidnapped. on a ship going through the desert they are attacked by a giant draggon and there ship in wrecked. Nina awakes to find herself in a crater next to a NAKED BOY. she wakes him up and makes him put some clothes on. This would be our silent protagonist. as in all the other BOF games this is RYU. RYU in japanese meens Dragon. but in this case Dragon boy. Ryu has amniesa and cant remember who he is or whats going on. Turns out Ryu has a twin who is the villian in the game. (can't remember his name) Ryu's brother is a mythecal beast and is basically the opposite of ryu. randomly in the game you will take control of him when his resting place is opened up. you will fight with him for a while and totally PWN up with him beacuse he is super strong. I never beat the game but im assuming he is the final boss. But he totally owns and is super powerful. once your done with his part you will be back with Ryu, Nina and Cray. They search for Elina and ultimately have to save the universe. you meet other characters a total of 6 and can swap them in and out of your party. Graphics: The game opens with a beautiful anime cutscene that really lets you no what the games about. Spells and effects are done quite well and so are the cutscenes. other than that the graphics are kinda crappy. the in game graphics are like sprites and look almost SNES like. low polygon count. it doesnt detract from the experience but it could have been better. Overall its pretty good.
Sound:another part where this game really shines. it has superb music and sound effects are great. all the spells and attacks sound cool and the cutscenes have brilliant music. Parts of the cutscenes are in Japenese but for the most part its all English. The in game has a great score. sounds of the wind, and baren landscape make you feel really desolate. The sound provides great ambieance.
Value: well i never really beat the game but i was pretty far through about 6 hours and i probably was half over. i would say up to 15-20 hours. which is pretty good. the game is also really hard. leveling is essential for this game. because if you dont later on in the game it becomes really hard and almost impossible. so the game shouldnt be taken lightly.
Tilt: i came into this game not knowing what to expect and i had an open mind and i came out on top. its really an astonishing game that up there with the FF series. it is greatl underappreciated and you should really give it a try. Overall: 8.6 it is a great game with some minor flaws that are noticable but really dont detract from the expereince. if your looking for something that is new and extremely different that sort of breaks the mold. dig this burried treasure up. go on ebay and look for it. it is that good. the series is greatly underappreiciated and so is this game. seriously download a rom or buy this game it is that good.
