A review of Brigandine with a different opinion
If U liked the feel of the Warsong , Langrisser series , where each of your leaders would have a certain amount of units and in battle both sides would take damage in a fight sequence , if u liked the Class tree system for ur leaders . Well Brigandine adds a mix of those elements with a little of the Conquer genre like Gemfire , Genghis khan , for those of u that remember , for those that don't , well There are the " Romance of the three Kingdoms " series that are still going on today , Another of the Koei game series . But Im not aware of any other game or game series that really gave me the conquer feel of the old games .
The Learning curve of the game isn't that long either , in an hour or so , U should have gotten a good feel of the game , the Difficulty comes in trying to keep ur weak Units alive , cause allot of them when they class up a bit become some pretty interesting units . The story line , considering there are five of them , isn't very developed , but still decent for the genre .
What I got hooked on was Unlocking all th classes and seeing what spells and skills they had , and then finding the most efficient teams and so on . I must of spent way over 100 hours playing this game , I just never got sick of it . I ended up selling it with my PS1 when I got my PS2 thinking id find better games sooner or later . well as I said earlier , 10 years later and DAMN do I regret ever having sold that game .
All in all , No matter what I saw in reviews about this game , I still think Brigandine was one of the best games ever made , and I still hope that some day Ill find it on a Shelf in some pawn shop or used game store , because I cant even get this game to work on an Emu ... So My Brigandine playing days are over ... Makes me very sad Indeed . Guess that about wraps it up . Thank you for reading my First review ever whoever might ever read this .
