"This Game Changes the way we think about World War Two Gaming Forever"

User Rating: 9.4 | Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 XBOX
Brothers In Arms Road to hill 30 is the newest game by the legendary Ubisoft and the new Gearbox Software. The game is a World War 2-based FPS with a little bit of Tactics and realism mixed in. The game takes a darker look at the war, and shows a much more violent and brutal side.

The Gameplay is one thing Brothers in Arms does right, down to the wire. The controls are easy to pick up but nearly impossible to master. The Game itself is center around the Story of Squad leader Sergeant Matthew Baker, the leader of a small group of paratroopers during the battle for Normandy. The game begins with the drops in progress, you are one of the many that are miss dropped and are forced to fight your way back to your squad. The game progress through Chapters, and then there are days. Every day has at least two chapters, and there are around eight days total. The Game is very hard especially when you get into the later levels. For some reason the enemies understanding of fixing a flanking gets deeper and harder to combat against. They begin to use tactic that surprised even me! I beat the game on Authentic and it was nearly impossible to combat their skill towards the end of the game.

The Game helps you out when making tactical decisions using one of the best tools in the game, the situational awareness. Because Paratroopers previously knew about the terrain they would be fighting in the game allow you to stop time and look at ways to deal with different situation that may come up. The game also includes squad-based elements; you command a total of two squads with three men each. There are two squad types in the game, Assault that carries close quarters weapons and a lot of grenades, to the fire team who main job it are to suppress you opponents. The game mainly boils down to tactics and a lot of thinking, which for most FPS fans is no fun. But if you Like the squad based games, you will love this one.

The Graphics in the game are pretty nice, the game doesn’t really have anything to show that’s pretty unless it’s the color red, which you will be see a lot of in this game. The guns look nice along with other things; from tanks to airplane it all looks rather nice. But most of the games objects are not suppose to look nice and shiny, there suppose to look beaten and highly worn out. The Games sound is one of its strongest points, from the sounds of guns rattling off in the distance to the soundtrack (which is one of the keynotes of this game). The games sound makes you feel like your there, from the screaming of a scared solider to the cries of those dying, this game sounds amazing. There is not one part where any sound feels odd or even out of place. The score feel perfect from the beginning of the war in the hedgerows to the fierce fighting Catena. The game also has music’s for the many (and I mean many) somber scenes. Throughout this game you will always feel that lingering feeling that you could of saved someone but you couldn’t

All in all this game is a World War two fans dream, the game is solid, the battle are fast and furious, and they add a more grittier and darker side to this war. It shows you a gritty image beyond the propaganda of the war into a darker corner of the glory. This game will linger in your mind for all of eternity. And hopefully inspires you to look beyond the game and learn for one of the few times in life.
