Played through it for the first time. Getting past its now dated graphics. It still holds up 6 years later.

I bought all 3 games in a bundle on sale on Steam some time ago. I've been working through a backed catalogue, and finally got around to this one. I finished it in two days (I'm on vacation) 9.5 hours total to complete, going at a normal pace.

Although it is 6 years old, to me it held up pretty damn well. I had to force myself to remember gaming back in 2005. As my memory serves me this one is about on par, in gameplay and visuals. I found the gameplay unique, as it forces you into the concept of squad command on the fly. I found it to be the crux of the game and in some parts found it rather taxing. You feel like the game is making you play it how it wants you to play. You have to put your fire teams in the right spot to be effective, and it seems there's really only one way of doing things or it doesn't work. To me it strips away the feeling of choice and freedom. Sometimes your squad mates are completely useless...

On the positives, the story does a decent job of sucking you in. You feel like your lost behind enemy lines, surviving one skirmish to the next. The characters are decently rounded and the voice acting was well done. It's also pretty neat to see the content you unlock as you go; you learn the locations and battles are based on real events. For me, that was what won me over. A solid 8.0 for me, 6 years later.
