I probably played through this game 500 times as a child. This 2D platformer had great kinetics and traps mixed with some amazing martial arts animations when you think about how many pixels they had to work with. Also, there are puzzles and traps that will challenge your reflexes. There were some great elements that allowed for creativity. This was rare during this time. For instance, when you kick a ninja off of a cliff he might fall into a trap. Also, the enemy sprites could accidentally hit each other if you timed it right. As Bruce Lee, you can run, punch, dragon kick, climb and crouch your way through to the boss. There are flying knives and spears throughout your journey that you will need to jump, duck and climb around. Bruce Lee was definitely the coolest looking sprite around. I think the best feature was that if you plugged in the 2nd joystick you could play as the Green Ninja Sumo. This allowed you to try to stop the person playing Bruce Lee from completing his mission. The problem with the Sumo is that he can't duck like Bruce. However, when you push down.. the green Sumo guy, "who we thought was a fat lady at the time" would stick his hand in his mouth and make a loud growl. The ninjas are hilarious in this game. The way they fall and poke you with their sticks seemed ingenious at the time. I have to say that the very end boss is probably the worst of all time. It was an entire screen of a huge blinking guy that would shoot knife-like things out of his mouth toward you. The problematic thing is that Bruce Lee is so fast that he could simply run straight across the screen before a knife came down far enough to hit him. Once Bruce crosses the screen the game is over. The end shows Bruce jumping up and down as the boss blows up. Then it starts over and you can do it again!
