Amazing concept ... something not quite on the money

User Rating: 8 | Brutal Legend PS3

When I saw Brutal Legend advertised I thought that the concept was awesome. A rock world full of all things Metal. Even if you don't like that kind of scene you'd still enjoy having a look see round this world.

At first glance, Brutal Legend seems faultless. But now I've played for 10 hours plus I can say that it strays and becomes slightly repetetive towards the ending. I'm sure some of you know which gameplay section I'm talking about, RTS.

*** Tiny Spoiler ***

The game ends with three large 'Stage Batlles', broken up by only one escourt mission in between. I found it slightly tedious to end such a Hot Prospect of a game in this way.

It feels as though Schafer has hurried his game onto the market just so he could advertise it as 'Rocktober'. Of course I'm joking about Rocktober but I am serious about him rushing the game to store shelve.

I seem to have rambled on for ages about this slight hiccup so I'll highlight some of the games great features.

1) Nice combos using axe and guitar

2) Innovative combat concept

3) Great cartoon graphics that fit well with the game

4) Superb voice acting(inc. Jack Black, Ozzie Ozz and the Halfords.

5) Great story, characters really brought to life

Liked it, maybe I'm being too harsh, but I give it an 8.
