User Rating: 10 | Brute Force XBOX
Brute force is a work of art. What the hell is wrong with all of you people who say this game is bad? I can't get a grip on it, it just doesn't make sense. There is nothing majorly wrong with this game at all. There is hardly anything minorly wrong with this game. Lets start with the graphics. They rival any game for any platform that exists to date. Halo is the only game that in terms of visuals, can keep up with brute force. Character models are unbeleiveably detailed and smooth. Their skin looks realistic, and the light reflects accordingly. Ambient light sources give off dynamic shadows to all characters on the screen. And bump mapping has never looked more......well........bumpy! The thing that grabbed my attention most in this game when it comes to the graphics would have to be the sky. It is always incredibly detailed and sharp. You may not be able to see the sky on some levels, but when you can, it is quite a sight to see. Now on to sound. Like Halo, this game really shines in the audio department. I hooked it up to my dolby digital 5.1 setup and cranked the volume to high. You can hear EVERYTHING! Bullets whiz by your head and you'd swear you felt the breeze coming off of it. Explosions rumble the room and give you that shaking feeling in your chest. Gun shots sound completely realistic and accurate. Very ambient sounding and cool is how I would describe them. I especially like the sounds of the mini gun. It makes you feel like you are holding an incredibly heavy and noisy piece of weaponary that can summon quick and painfull death in an instant at your command. Last but certainly not least, the gameplay. Singly player is amazingly fun and addictive, the graphics shine most while playing by yourself, as does the surround sound. But the game will get a little tough at times. Playing co-operatively with 2 players is the way I like to go. It provides with slightly reduced graphics(very slightly) and a much better looking screen than a 4 player cooperative game would. Plus, things can get a little confusing while playing with 4 people. Someone always gets lost and starts complaining that they can't do anything or kill anybody. Thats why I prefer 2 people. Oh! and wait till you play as tex and use his two weapons at once technique. You haven't lived until you are holding two miniguns at once and mow down any foe that stands in your way. It's a feeling of satisfaction that I can't describe. Brutus also has his ups and downs. He like any other character, has a special ability. His ability allows him to see surrounding in heat mode. Sort of like the Preditor. He can charge an enemy and kill him instantly. He is also a good deal quicker and all around faster than the rest of his team members. Now we come to Hawk, probably my least favorite, but still fun to be. Her power is to become invisible for a set amount of time. She has a handy weapon called the power blade, that delivers a one hit kill when used. All you do is enable invisibility, sneak up on an unsuspecting villian, and slice ur blade through his back. Now, my personal favorite.....Flint. She is a cyborg/android kinda thing. She has deadly accuracy with a s****er rifle and her special ability makes things even better. It's an auto targeting system. You press the white buttun and to verticle lines zoom in to form a square around the enemy you are looking at. You quickly press the fire button, and they go down. I like to refer to it as picking off guys one bye one. It's alot of fun. She may be the most useful character in the game if used right. Thats about it for this review. In conclusion, I would like to say, that this game does not deserve any lower than 9.0. And anybody that gave it lower than that has no idea what they are talking about. All of you honest people know that if this game came out for the PS2 instead of XBOX, than it would have gotten no lower than a 9.0. Don't deny it either.
