Dissapointing, yet fun while it lasted

Very decent game indeed. A Bungie classic, yet I didn't 'feel' the game like I did any other game of Bungie's.

Playing the story mode of the game was lacking some 'umph'. I didn't get a full effect, as in the story wasn't well thought out. It had korny bosses that really didn't add much to the story. The maps weren't thought through enough, seems in corners you could get stuck, or easily lost amung the consistancy of the shrubery and trees. Although on another level, the ability to switch characters if you take a hit, or decide you want another ability, the flick of a button, and you're a comrad in the battlefield. The fact that you didn't have to restart the level everytime you died was a nice touch too. More like you had 4 tries, each a different way with a different character, instead of 1 way with the same character.

The effects weren't bombingly 'wow' or anything special. Minimum at best. The trees were choppy, and none of the characters really had any significance to them besides a basic shape and color tone. I found myself catching glitches on the effects, for instance, a purple cloud of 'pixie dust' was throw as magic from one of the bosses you have to fight to get through the game, and if you managed to dodge them, which shouldn't have been a problem, it would seem as rotating purple squares were flying past you. Or when you looked at cave walls, there was a clear straight line where they had obviously stopped, and repeated the same pattern.

The voices were faily unique. Each women's voice sounded like their character's voice. I thought they did an excellent job finding the right people for over-comming. Aswell as the men's voices sounded distinct. Then of course there was the monster you could play as a character (i always called him a frog.) His was definatly unique and distinct, seeing as it wasn't like anyone else's. Human-wise. I found the guns and the bombing sounds were fairly repetitive though. Didn't make me say 'awesome gun sounds!' More like 'this pistol sounds the same at the rocket launcher!'

The value of the game is a mere 20$. I really woulnd't like to downgrade the game more than I already have, therefore I reccomend you go out and rent it. Don't beat it while you rent it though, the multiplayer is quite fun, so if you like it after you rent it, go ahead and buy it. You can always return it if it's not what it's cracked up to be.

All-around pretty entertaining game. Although I got bored with it, and I never play it anymore. 8.5
