A simple, yet extremely hard retro game.
There's also some downloadable content you can buy to get more levels.
The game is basically about shooting bubbles at enemies, then destroying those bubbles with the enemies inside. You can get some power-ups to mix things up, but most of the time, you'll have to fight without them.
You hold the wiimote on the side like a NES controller, which works fine. You can also use the classic controller, but unfortunately and for no apparent reason, Gamecube controller isn't supported.
The game has decided to go the retro way, by forcing you to play through the whole adventure in one sitting, which is a shame, because it's hard to play for that long.A save feature is something that should be there, considering how challenging the game is, and how frustrating it can be, so it would be nice to be able to take a break.
Other than that, the gameplay's fine.
8/10
Presentation: The presentation is supposed to look retro, but some people might not like it. The music is extremely repetitive, and isn't the best thing ever. The graphics are slightly updated from the NES version, with character models looking better, but levels still looking retro.
Not the best option there could have been, but it does suit the game.
6/10
Replay Value: There's a lot of replay value in this game, with online leaderboards, downloadable content, multiplayer, and 4 different modes which are all really difficult.
8/10
Fun: This game is not too fun alone, but with friends, it can be a blast.
The level design was fun, but sometimes, just too hard which made it frustrating.
6/10
Overall: A challenging downloadable game which I didn't enjoy much. If you like the original, you might want to buy it for nostalgia, but for anyone else, I recommend you look somewhere else, unless you have someone to play with.
