Rockstar is big, Bully is, but no one ever really talk about what makes it special. Check this out...
Well I’m gonna keep it real with all of you. No beating around the bush or nothing like that (hey watch those words mister!) uh... lol... THIS GAME IS HOT! I mean the things they do in Bully is so unprecedented and never-before-seen that it makes hollywood writers want to evaluate and scrutinize how Rockstar make games so unique and different. Number one: It takes place in a school setting. Number two: There are almost an unlimited amount of actions you can perform on campus, whether it be releasing urine into the urinal (i.e. peeing in the bathroom), or going into the cafeteria during the lunch period to get your grub on. No developer has ever taken it's game to a place like this. You never see a game in a school setting, especially where everyone in the world have a unique personality and really puts you in the character (seriously, no exaggeration). From kicking soccer balls to throwing frisbees to kissing girls, it's all there and all alive. It's almost hard to describe what Rockstar is doing because it is such a unique game. I know it's hard to convey in words, but you got to believe me... trust me.
Rockstar really went all out in putting out a very truly magical and special game. The game is a little reminiscent of Harry Potter because of the overall music and style of the kids clothing, but the game is more deep than that. It is so timeless and hard to tell what it’s really trying to do because it takes so many different things from so many different places. For example there’s a gang in the game called, The Greasers of whom immediately remind me of John Travolta from Grease. It also has a real comedic aspect to it. I wouldn’t go as far to say that it’s like The Family Guy but only with less vulgar words, however it definitely keeps that kind of comedy you expect from these Developers.
Let me not forget to remind to everyone that the social portion of the game (since a lot of these reviewers forget to talk about). The world around you is so dynamic and alive that surreal. It has a RPG thing about it, that I’m just not sure how to read it. I mean you can go up to people and initialize conversation by holding L1 (social/combat button) and then follow by saying of number of things like, “Hi, What’s Going on’!, You Suck or You’re looking pretty today). All of these are so cool. One of my first impressions of this is that it reminds me of the RPG Fable for Xbox, but just more better and real. Plus, people react to the way you dress. Rockstar gives you the ability and option to wear nothing or to dress in style with a polo shirt and $10.00 cheap shoes. If you wear nothing though, then girls will laugh at you and everyone will think your a joke. No one will take you seriously. Isn’t this great?! I mean this game offers so much and trust me, you’ll love it and not want to put it down. I can definitely see Rockstar taking Bully into a series like what it does with the GTAs. It certainly has the potential for it. Even though it seems smaller than the other open-world games I play, that is certainly not a factor because the size is good for what the game is trying to accomplish. Also there are A LOT OF THINGS YOU CAN DO. Rockstar really makes you feel like Jimmy Hopkins and give you a lot of control of his character. It’s ridiculous (but in a good way).
If you’re already coming into the next-gen with either a Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii, go right ahead, but let this be the least game (if any) before you put your PS2 in the closet and never plug it in to play it again. Rockstar did it big with Bully. It’s only right for you to feel and enjoy the experience of Bulworth Academy. Immerse yourself.
