Time moves faster when you're actually in school.

When I heard that Bully was out, I was quite eager to get it for a couple of reasons. The first being that it was by the makers of GTA. I enjoyed the GTA games, and Bully would be a welcome treat. The other reason was that it involved school life, and the gameplay revolved around wrecking havoc in school. Cool right? Not exactly.

Unfortunately, I found the game to be pretty bland, and not at all immersive. In a nutshell, the game revolves around a kid who gets dumped by his parents in a boarding school, and he’s left to fend for himself, literally. Somehow, the beginning of the game, learning the ins and outs, just didn’t quite appeal to me to keep going. The characters you encounter are annoying stereotyped figures you’d meet in a high school, and the gameplay is just bland, being more of a beat em up then anything else. Seriously, get into trouble with a teacher, you have to beat them to get away, and pick on someone and you got the whole school coming after you. Also, the need to get to classes on time and such makes it feel like you’re in a total rush and not give you time to do anything. It becomes a boring routine, and the levels are just plain boring and unimaginative.

Unfortunately, I put the game down after a couple of days, and maybe that’s my mistake as I won’t know what I’m missing ahead, but that’s because the game just wasn’t appealing enough to keep me going.
