Great budget game which you can jump into for 15 minutes, or spend the whole night playing
All there is to this game is for you to kill as many zombies as humanly possible before you run out of lives. This can run into the thousands! with sometimes there being up to a hundred on screen. The game includes the modes Arcade, Survivor, and Rescue Daisy. Arcade is the standard mode with you burning and killing zombies until you die, trying to make as many points from combo's and such. Survivor is your typical survivor mode. Rescue daisy is a mode where your supposed girlfriend is in a car in the middle of the map doing her hair whilst zombies are going after her. You pretty much have to keep them off her and keep her happy. There's not much else to that apart from co-op, but you havent even tried the gameplay yet.
The gameplay is brilliant! The cameras set as a birdseye view and you move around the map taking out waves and waves of zombies that come after you. They really do come in great numbers, so luckily you can set them all on fire with your torch, and then rake some combo's with some hefty weapons such as a chainsaw, bat and shotgun. Killing zombies is incredibly satisfying, and its great to see the screen absolutely covered in blood once you've delivered some deadly blows to the head with a cricket bat. You can also get some distraction weapons such as a gun which takes out the brain of a zombie and throws it on the floor which they all go running to, allowing you to chainsaw them in the meantime. Theres also weapons such as the flamethrower which burns a large group of zombies much quicker than running around with the torch. The great thing about fire in this game is that it spreads quite quickly, so make sure you set fire to fences and large groups of zombies and soon they'll all be smoking and running after you, allowing you to rake some mega combos with a shotgun or gatling gun!
Graphics unfortunately aren't the best in the world and could easily have been on the Gamecube, but it's not bad enough to detract from the gameplay and you only notice it when you really think about it. The sound is pretty good with a kicking soundtrack including various punk and post millenium rock tracks, and the sound of the guns and sound effects are decent enough.
Whilst game modes feel limited, this game is incredibly addictive and will have you constantly replaying levels to better your score! Getting some medals in a level can be incredibly difficult due to the waves of zombies after you, so difficulty can range from easy to very hard. You can quite easily jump in quickly for 15 minutes or settle down for the night with some mates and a couple of beers. For £6-7 also, the price is a steal! Highly recommended
