A Pretty Good Beat Them Up Game In The Vein of "Final Fight"!

User Rating: 9 | ACA NeoGeo: Burning Fight NS

Seeing as how this video game came out at around the same time as the more famous video game "Final Fight", it's really hard to tell which one of them was being developed, or started development first. And even though this game came out on a technologically superior video game system with superior graphics, music, and sound; it ended up being Capcom's name brand recognition (and the fact that they released "Final Fight" on a much more reasonably priced Super NES), that made sure that the name of "Final Fight" has endured, while "Burning Fight" is now little more than a foot-note to the names of games that Neo Geo came out with; that failed to make a dent in Nintendo's than (and now) video game superiority and dominance. And that's a shame, because this video game is able to hold it's own against "Final Fight". With the ability to play as three different characters, and the ability to play with a friend, you get to fight through five stages; where various baddies and bosses try to fight against you; while you smash up stuff in order to collect valuables to rack up your high score, or find food items to replenish your health! And if you see an area that tells you to go in, do so; because it's a bonus room that lets you collect gold and health as long as you smash the breakable stuff within the limited time limit! While some of the enemy A.I. tends to use very cheap tactics to reduce your health, it is rather understandable; given that it was developed with the arcade system in mind. The only thing that keeps me from ranking this game any higher, is the fact that this game lacks a proper ending. But if you want to see what Neo Geo's answer to "Final Fight" was, try playing this game! It's a retro blast from the past! Enough said, true believers!
