Playstation Graphics are far superior on Burnout 3. After making this rather bold statement the immediate response will be “How Would He Know?”. To that, I will tell you our methodology to determiner this. We have a PS2, XBOX and Gamecube consoles running on a relatively new 32” NTSC television connected via an S-video cable. We switch between consoles using a state of the art audio-video selector. We rented the PS2 version of BO3 and thought it was well worth the investment, however, reviews we read seem to indicate that the XBOX version was slightly better and so we made our way to the local electronics store and purchased the XBOX vs. We could not believe the difference; the XBOX graphics were absolutely terrible, by comparison. To test this out we loaded in the PS2 version AND the XBOX vs… paused both games at exactly the same spot within the game (one showing detailed close and distant areas) and flipped between XBOX and PS2. The detail on the PS2 vs had much higher definition. So What? You may ask. Playing the game on XBOX particularly when in high speed boost meant that distant objects coming at you; the ones you have to avoid, were barely discernable on XBOX, more crashes (not the ones you want) and more frustration playing a great game. We were so cheesed at the XBOX vs we called Microsoft. They indicated that the game was probably developed for HDTV which would account for the drastic difference in quality. Although this is legitimate, statistics show that HDTV accounts for less than 3% of the televisions out there and most of these are still sitting in dealer show rooms. They’re just not there…yet, both as, not evolved AND at a reasonable consumer price point. So if you have an option, make no mistake…the PS2 version is far superior graphics wise AND in addition on-line gaming is FREE on PS2. You will have to fork out (in case you don’t already have XBOX live) an additional fee to play on-line, post a complimentary 2 month tryout; after that it’s a $50.00 or $60.00 (US) per year investment. If you have an option, PS2 is THEE way to go on this one. We exchanged the XBOX vs for the PS2 vs and the world is a better and happier place to live ;) Ziek
