Speeds past all other racing games

Racing games come and go in the gaming industry with nothing really special about them. Burnout 3 Takedown takes racing games to a whole new level. With great graphics and some excellent game-play this game will keep you cruising for awhile. Burnout 3 isn't technically just a racing game. It adds a little bit of a demolition derby twist which adds to the excitement of the race. Instead of just racing down a road trying to beat another car you'll be slamming into walls and trying to takedown the racer next to you. By taking down other racers you'll be rewarded with extra boost and points. The point system in this game is also something that is enjoyable. After every race you'll get a medal; gold, silver, bronze the norm. Then also you'll get a screen that keeps track of how many takedowns you got in a race. With these to scoring systems you'll unlock new areas and some fast cars. In the game the cars are broken up into different types. They range from compact cars to Indy cars. The cars in the game look outstanding. When you get farther in the game the cars start to get faster. You'll never really feel any difficulty driving the faster cars because the game gradually eases you into them by making each car a little faster. The 3 areas in the game include USA, Europe, and the Far East. They all contain different tracks and different types of racing. The types of races in this game are a little different from other types of racing games. You have the normal racing mode where you'll race 5 other cars a certain amount of laps. Face-off will pit you against one other car and if you win you'll receive the car as a prize. Grand Prix is just like the racing mode but over a certain amount of races, and you'll receive points for what place you take in the race. King of the Road also pits you against 5 other racers but after every lap the person in last place will be cut from the race, and last one standing wins. There is also the Destruction game mode which doesn't involve any racing but will keep you playing just because everyone likes causing 50 car pile ups. In Destruction mode the whole point is to cause is much "destruction" or damage as possible. You'll be shown a money amount of what you need to reach for a medal. As you drive you'll be able to pick up extra money or icons that will multiply your final total by 2 or 4. In this mode you'll also be able to unlock special vehicles, including vans, semi-trucks, or school-buses. The different tracks in the game range from small tracks circling a couple of blocks to racing a straight track across the interstate. Some of the tracks connect to make different races which makes the tracks repetitive. Even though this happens the game makes up for it in the racing. The racing in Burnout 3 is amazing. With the blurry look on the sides of your car you'll actually feel like your going 200 mph. When your going 200 mph and crash into another car seeing those sparks fly and glass shatter will just make you feel that much more in the game. The online play of the game is fun but a little more difficult because you'll actually be racing other people so takedowns will be harder. One great thing about the online play is that all your stats and points still go onto your offline stats. So if you need that car you've been trying to get go online and rack up some extra points. All the game modes are also online and there are a few more that you can play with 2 players. Burnout 3 Takedown is a racing game that can be enjoyed and played by anyone who likes racing games or doesn't. It is out on Xbox and PS2.
