User Rating: 4.6 | Burnout Revenge XBOX
Well, another version of Burnout is back for another round in what seems to be a VERY big letdown. Of course, there are those who rate the game highly because of certain things like "improved graphics" (putting a SHINE on everything hardly counts as "improved") and the mode "Traffic Attack". Gone are such fan favorite features such as being able to watch your crash in crash mode in replay mode and Team Crash mode are eliminated altogether. The different courses with the alternate routes are a nice change but it doesn't change the overall redundancy of the game. It seems as though this game was just slapped with a coat of fresh paint and had a few fun features removed in order to make it different than Burnout 3. The game still controls the same and it has a few new cars which are quite nice looking. Multiplayer modes, sans the popular Team Crash and replays, are somewhat enjoyable. What's real odd is that if you play say, Crash Tour, you play one level with between 2 and 6 players. I played this mode with a friend of mine and we were forced to take turns on THE SAME controller. We had 2 controllers plugged in and we had to share one in this mode only for whatever reason. Another odd happening is that if you play in any of the multiplayer modes (aside from race), you get the option to either continue or quit after a match. For some reason, continue takes you back to the menu just like the quit option does. So....what's the point of that!?. As for online, it's basically the same thing aside from having a party but just like Halo 2, you're stuck with nasal geeky virgin teenagers who love to use the N-word, rude, negelected little kids, and sexless college students. There are exceptions however, such as normal people who just want to play a good game online. The bottom line is that a MUCH more enjoyable experience is available in the form of Burnout 3. This mess is EA's last ditch attempt to get you to pay $50 for a game to play on a system that will be outdated in a mere 2 months
