Burnout returns with it's 4th installment, which is a worthy sequel
Like Burnout 3, Crash, Race, Road Rage, and Time Attack are still in tact, however there is a new mode: Traffic Attack. The mode is monotonous, but fun. All you do is slam into same-way traffic, building up damage. Which also means that, yes, you can now hit same-way traffic without the fear of crashing. One thing they changed that I don't like, however, is the new "re-invented" crash mode. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun, but starting and accelerating is done by this "golf club" meter. It's like trying to kick in Madden or something. You have to press A, then press it again at the top of the meter, and again at the bottom to get a perfect start. Then the car accelerates to a speed on it's own, which means you can't add your own variety by slowing down and speeding up your car to try and hit traffic at different times. The greatly reduces the variety in trying to hit as many cars like in Burnout 3, because there is one set way to get the gold in Revenge, whereas in 3 you could slow down and wait for the traffic to pile up onto the screen and blast them.
Graphics:
The graphics in Revenge are beautiful. It's almost like an adventure game where Burnout 3 was the lighthearted game (like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) and Revenge is the dark, twisted sequel (Prince of Persia: Warrior Within). The game has a dark, downtown, "ghetto" setting. It's nice though.
Sound:
There are more good songs on the EA Trax thsi time around, but overall, the music still blows. Custom soundtracks here to save the day again. The SFX are still amazing though.
Replay:
Very high. You probably won't play this one as much if you have played 3 though.
Overall:
Definately a worthy sequel to Burnout 3, but there is some stuff I wish they wouldn't have changed.
