More of the same, but still fun
The whole game takes place in World Tour mode - where you progress to better cars, tracks, etc. For some reason the single player option from Burnout 3 has been removed - but you can still find a way to play the same races in World Tour mode again anyway. I don't know why they took the single player option of selecting your own car, track and such from this game, I know you can find it in World Tour mode, but it was a heck of alot easier in Burnout 3 to get to your favorite race and I cant understand why this option is not here!
The game has a few new things like the ability to explode your car when you've been taken out to get revenge on your opponents, which is great fun. Crash mode has been altered slightly too, and is still fun. There's alot of new music but this is of course down to taste and to be honest I didn't find much I liked. I like about 3 or 4 songs and thats not much when there's about 40 on the soundtrack. Thankfully, you can select which ones play when you race. You can also use other traffic as weapons against your opponents - you crash into the back of them forcing them into your rival.
Bottom line is this game is great, is has just enough new features and the graphics have been improved, but it's just not enough to called a sequel to Bunrout 3 in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I like Burnout Revenge, but it's simply not better than Burnout 3 Takedown. If you've never played any Burnout games before, I'd recommend it, but if you've already have Burnout 3, you're not missing much. It's hard to say whether you'll really like it much more than the previous game, or you might love it and think it has enough to justify it being a sequel.
