Damn near perfect, the ultimate arcade racer returns bigger and better than ever.

I look down at my watch. Three minutes until the bus leaves. Nah, one more game of Crashbreaker Road Rage, I'll be fine.
I was fine, I missed the bus to school but instead got something much more rewarding to my name than an A in Geography. 39 Takedowns, not bad at all.

This is the extent to which I was addicted to this game. Missing the bus became a regular occurence, but I din't care. It might sound sad but my world consisted of Vertical Takedowns, Crashbreakers and Revenge Rivals. This is the best racing game ever, period. OK, so it doesn't have licensed cars, it doesn't include realistic handling, and it doesn't have any real-life tracks. It does however, have the most entertaining concept of any racing game out there.

Well, it's more of a crashing game to be honest. Burnout Revenge centers around the crashing of cars, both through Takedowns in Race and Road rage modes, and just creating pile-ups in Crash mode. And it's the most fun thing I have experienced for a long time. You wouldn't believe how satisfying it is to nail a Four-Way Instant Revenge Payback in the new Crashbreaker races and Road Rages.

For fans of Burnout 3, it's a slightly different experience, with a more gritty and realistic graphical style, more realistic cars, and a shuffle-around of the modes. Also, traffic travelling in the same lane can now be 'checked', ie smashed into from behind (this is displayed not only in the normal game but in its own game mode, Traffic Attack). There are now more ways to take down opponents, including Vertical Takedowns (from above) which take advantage of the new tracks' insane jumps and shortcuts. The revenge system is now a more serious affair (hence the name), with rivals being pointed out when they take you down, and then you receiving extra points for taking revenge.

This game also includes a killer soundtrack, with songs from Tsar, Fallout Boy and My Chemical Romance, among others.

All in all, this is a fantastic game which sets new standards for the arcade racer genre. It eclipses anything done before, and is one step closer to the ultimate arcade experience, which with the return of a single event mode and better and more levels could become a reality.
