Caesar II was a challenging and interesting game. Some reviews indicate that it was a simple, uninteresting and unchallenging game. Well, if you measure it up to today’s gaming standards, yes, that would be true. However, the game was not released yesterday. When the game came out years ago, it had character, it was complex for game play, and had a good sandbox feature. This game stands the play test with other games in it’s time. Caesar II was but a small second step; quickly behind it was the crowning achievement from Sierra that opened the flood gates for City Building Gaming. In the wings was a fun, interactive and challenging game… Caesar III. Caesar II still is a great game for simple play.
