Say hello to my little friend

User Rating: 8 | Call of Duty 2: Big Red One PS2
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is not a perfect game by no means, but it is entertaining. The levels are decent and spacious although extremely linear, and it features many different weapons from World War 2. Since I have the Collectors Edition it has extras such as a making of film and an interview with the voice actors (Many from Band of Brothers fame) and some extra concept art.

The levels look pretty good for a PS2 game, but considering I have Call of Duty 3 for PS3, it is obvious that its last gen graphics will never look great. The Levels are decent from North Africa, to Sicily, and eventually France. I am kinda impressed by the Landing Missions, although, some missions are downright boring. Grenades are almost too easy to use, but since they might not come often, this rarity in some missions balances out its power. The coolest weapons are the MG-34 and US .30 Cal. Machine guns. They are portable and can be set up on top of cover allowing one to spray the enemy with lead to their heart's content. They can also be set on the ground if there is no cover near by, or fired from the waist (which is naturally inaccurate but can be an effective covering fire). Only certain missions have them and ammo is not infinite so ammo conservation is a must.

The sound is the drawback. Guns almost sound like a playing card rubbing against a bike wheel. They sound weak and underwhelming. The environment sounds are good but not great. Planes sound good and the wailing of the Junkers (pronounced Yunkers for those who do not know) 87 Stukas are pretty cool. Other than that, there is nothing to write home about.
