Breaking the tradition of using at least two separate characters, for the majority of Big Red One, you use only one, whose name is never mentioned, although it doesn't matter. In this Call of Duty, you get to know your team members better than in the other ones, although it is not as big on character development as number 3. Granted, this came out BEFORE 3, so I can't really judge that. I still don't like the health bar system that never regenerates, so that somewhat lowered my score. This game follows the "Route of the Fighting First", so yes, you are part of the Big Red One, denoted by a big red "one" on their clothes. This game takes you from place to place, the most memorable being Italy, due to the fact that you never really fight there in World War II games, though the D-Day mission was really atmospheric, and actually the first D-Day mission I have played. Call of Duty Big Red One mostly fixes the mistakes in Call of Duty: Finest Hour, like how your A.I. teammates are idiots while you get attacked by like, ten panzerfaust wielding Germans who have near perfect accuracy. So, if you just so happen to not own a PS3 or 360, but you do have a PS2, and you haven't played any Call of Duty games, and you like FPS games, it would do you a great amount of good to get Call of Duty: Big Red One. As a side note, I got to the eleventh level (out of thirteen) before turning down to the "easy" difficulty. Just saying.
