Despite some minor inadequacies in the overall presentation, it's still a great game for the xbox console system.

Having greatly enjoyed both Call of Duty 1 and 2 on the PC, I had some fairly strong expectations towards this game before even playing it, although I wasn't sure how much the overall experience would be dilapidated by the jump to a console system, especially with it being a first-person shooter. With most first-person shooter games on console systems, it's a bit more difficult to control the aiming using the analog sticks as opposed to using a mouse on a PC, but to my surprise, the assisted targeting and mechanics of the game help to alleviate this problem with relative success. The storyline and character depth seemed a bit more enriched than in the previous games in the Call of Duty series, giving a more lively quality to the game. And as with the previous games, Call of Duty 3 possessed rich effects and sounds, such as the dazed stun of having a shell explode nearby or the intense thud of your own heartbeat as you prime charges for detonation, augmenting the immersive aspect of the overall gaming experience. As for the flaws, however, some of the levels were a bit monotonous in design, causing the game to be boring at times, and there were times when I had problems with the AI of my own team's bots causing them to get in my way and block me from backing out of a barrage of bullets. Also, there was a minor glitch that would sometimes cause my character to instantly gravitate towards the bottom of a slope when going prone. Regardless of the few small setbacks, Call of Duty 3 is a great game and progressive step for the series.
