chore of a game

I've been a fan of CoD since the first iterations of the series, and have played every single one (the campaigns). This latest outing feels, without a doubt imo, the most dumbed-down version by far. I honestly don't get why this took so long to work on.

The story is on a Twilight level of quality, dialogue is stupid (the very first cutscene you hear the protagonist saying he joined the marines with his "best friend" Will, and then a second later, when they're waiting to deploy, they both share their reasons for joining the marines like they've only just met - "My dad's an army guy so it was the natural choice - oh yeah? I joined just to get away from my dad"). None of the characters' actions makes any sense, there's no sensible decision-making to speak of (it seems most of the US war effort is being led by a Sgt.), you get the point..

Now, even though this isn't a "story-driven" genre, the very least the story should do, even in a game like this, is not get in the way of the action and let the player just have fun. But the setting, story and writing are SO dumb that it keeps distracting from the game experience (no helping it when you find yourself WTFing basically whenever something happens).

That, coupled with a somewhat "constricted" gaming experience (exosuit features are cool but aren't utilized enough throughout the game - other than that it's the same ol' CoD gameplay) and RIDICULOUSLY LONG loading screens while running on a high-end machine - think close to 5 minutes of loading time between missions (when you're left with a black screen for most of it since the cutscenes themselves are usually only a minute long), have really made this game a chore for me. Thankfully, the game is, per usual, short.
