What happened to the COD series?

I haven't played a COD game since CODMW2 which I thought was a great game, especially the multiplayer. I just kind of got away from the franchise, got into Battlefield 2 and some other games along the way. So when this one came out, I thought I'd give it a try and see how it has improved. Well, it sure hasn't, in fact it seems to have gotten worse. I haven't finished the campaign yet, so my review is based solely on multiplayer.

The graphics are cartooney, hit detection is HORRIBLE. I'm not saying that MW2 didn't have some issues, but seriously, it's almost laughable in this game. One thing I do like is the token unlock system, not sure if that was in the previous BO game, but it is a plus.

The game just seems rushed, I wish they would have taken the time to make the graphics more crisp and the atmosphere feel more like a real battle. I don't expect it to be as immersive as a BF game, I realize it is a completely different genre as far as combat games go, but I don't know, it just seems to be missing that "something" that made CODMW2 so great.
