Although Black Ops offers great multilayer and a flashy campaign, the game play is uneven and at times even glitchy.

Don't get me wrong I really did enjoy the game. I just find myself comparing Black Ops to Modern Warfare 2. The game play in Black Ops just does not match up to the last Call of Duty game and this is mostly because it is uneven. I found that some veteran levels challenged the player in a good way. That is to say that the level made you think and you couldn't run through the whole level with one life. However, certain areas in the campaign are just poorly put together. There are times when the AI spawns infinitely and the checkpoints are far and few between. The worst instance that comes to mind is the last part of "Executive Order". I promise that nobody beat that section in one try. Overall there are certain areas that are just frustrating. The funny thing is that during these frustrating moments I noticed a lot of glitchs. Ranging anywhere from character glitches to vehicle glitches. Nothing that completely ruined my experience but there none the less.

Though the campaign has some sloppy moments, the overall feel is exciting. I feel as though some of Treyarch's most recent Call of Duty's have been pumping out the generic World War plots and game play but Black Ops changed this. The story felt new and explored some new historical moments in Call of Duty. Though sometimes cliche, the cut scenes thrown into the game play were a welcome addition. I also liked that the story stayed with a few main characters, as opposed to branching out and hurting character development. The campaign was a bit short but I was still impressed with the direction that Treyarch took it in.

To sum up my review, the game is worth the price point. Even though the campaign is short, there is so much more game play on the disk. The obvious addition of multilayer and Nazi zombies makes for a lot of game play. Hopefully, Treyarch continues to give the fans new stories and game play.

Overall I give Treyarch's newest Call of Duty an 8 out of 10 because there is still room for improvement. Good work Treyarch. Keep it up and maybe one day the fans won't be able to tell the difference between a Treyarch Call of Duty game and an Infinite Ward Call of Duty game.
