One of the best WW2 games in history.

User Rating: 9.1 | Call of Duty: Finest Hour PS2
So first off, I'm a huge WW2 fan. When I got this game I expected a decent first-person shooter game with OK graphics. What I got was an amazing game which is still one of my favorites.

Nowadays, everyone loves first-person shooters. Just look at the Halo revolution. Finest Hour is no exception. The graphics are great, very detailed. The weapons are so life-like (probably because of the kick), you actually feel like you're firing it yourself. A lot of people critcize the slow-motion-in-mid-action bonus the makers added on. To me it's just icing on the cake. Sure, it can be annoying. But you have to admit, it is cool how you can go from shooting non-stop PPSh bullets to a semi-auto and back again. The overall gameplay is an intense, non-stop action theme. My personnal favorite type. An extra bonus is that unlike MOH games, you can play as all the main allies:Soviet Union (Russia), Great Britain, and the U.S. This can be a plus and a bad point. On the plus side, you get to play with all the weapons of all nationalities. The bad part:this forces the game to switch fields and priorities so much, it's some-what confusing. That aside, it's a very good adition. The sniper missions are very straightforward, and the sights on the weapons are excellant.

The bad parts of this game? Well here's the one that eats me up. You have hardly any at all control over your weapons do to the kicks. A perfect example is the PPSh. Though acceptible at close range, the kick almost takes away it's few good points. Also, the friendly fire blocker is kinda annoying but you can turn it off. Not much to say about the online play. The lack of a simple two-player is the main down-point.

Well, overall this is an excellant game. Probably one of the best games I've ever played. And that's a huge compliment coming from me. Capable to go down as one of the best games in history, not to mention the best first-person shooter of the decade.
