While bringing brilliant innovations and sheding new light on World War 2 through new settings, Call of Duty: Finest Hour just does to many other things wrong. Because of the vast number of other reviews that cover the majority of what the game does right or wrong I'll try to be specific and not go in such broad strokes. First, I'd like to dispel the myths about grenades and enemy deaths. The grenades to have a lengthy thossing animation but DO offer control based on how you aim during the animation. Also, the enemy death animation are very streched out but you can fairly easily tell if you hit the enemy based on the red "hit" signal. So what makes Finest Hour great. First, the graphics engine manges to have some dynamic lighting, details, and create epic battle sequences but, if you played Frontline you know what I mean, the polygon counts are very low and the models thus suffer greatly. From the story perspective, as you may know, there are multiple characters. Although Spark has been bashed for making this choice its actually extremely well done, all Call of Duty games should use this technique. It blends the path of the characters and allows you to see - literally - the war from different perspetive and truly like the motto "No man fights alone." The large sscale battle sequences are amazing, with a better platform (PC?) these levels could have been truly remarkable. They are in new fresh areas of the war and provide a ditinct feel. I was very impressed. As for the problems, well they're numerous. First the graphics overal can be annoying looking at such poor model. The lack of checkpoints is definitly a killer. Its EXTREMELY frustrating and probably the biggest problem in the game. Also, the direction - as with all Medal of Honor/Call of Duty console games - is very poor and thus its easy to get lost and waste countless minutes wondering what to do. It happened to me on the last level and was EXTREMEMLY irritating. That said, overal Finest Hour could have been great but due to its fairlure is average. Go rent it maybe if you love the multiplayer buy it. For WW2 console fans its finally here, for everyone else no need to get excited but its worth a look at some point. As for what Finest Hour does wrong,
