Making games for the masses is certainly a difficult task. You can't please everyone. When you are lucky/good enough to have created one of the strongest franchises out there, extra care needs to be taken not to mess too much with the special sauce while keeping it fresh and innovative.
Sadly, where this game falls short is at its core, the multiplayer combat. Everything that I really enjoyed in Black Ops and then mostly enjoyed in BO II is gone. It no longer feels like a game of skill. There is not that excitement of you narrowly surviving an encounter against another strong player or players. Death happens way too quickly and is not satisfying. Some may appreciate this new core mechanic, but based on the reviews of thousands it's clear most do not. The developer needs to stop focusing on the 1% that have now unhinged this for the 99%. IMO the Original Black Ops was the pinnacle of this franchise. All they really had to do was add really good maps, graphics, and guns while keeping the core mechanics of Black Ops and they have a repeat winner. Even in BO II the best maps were ports from Black Ops. This franchise makes a BILLION and you can't create a few new good maps?
