Its miles ahead of MW3...but lets face it, you cant teach this old dog new tricks...

Okay, so ive pretty much begun to hate a series that i loved so much back when i played Call Of Duty 2 on the Xbox360 back in 2005 (ive also completed COD classic, so i played the original too). I dont know, generally the series seem to have lost quality single player (except the black ops series in my opinion). 6 hours long without much being very memorable, even the firefights seem to be getting tamed. MW3 was around the time i got into the call of duty multiplayer fad, and MW3 got me out of it like a vegetarian at a KFC. Stupid example but you get the idea, just like the beloved tony hawk (which made a awesome comeback with pro skater HD) and Guitar hero (hadnt had a game since warriors of rock in 2010) series, activision was slowly but surely killing its franchise.

So i decided screw it. If i didnt like ghost, id be done with the franchise. If i did, id shower it with some praise. unfortunatley ghost isnt all that great...

So to start off, lets talk about the story. It IS step up from MW3 for sure, and for the 1st half of the game, it is fairly exciting. however about half way through, the game just loses track, and the level designs just start to become straight up corridor shootings, along with incredible uses of the same old call of duty cliches. To add insult to injury, the ending is probably the worst ending ive seen in a long time. I wont spoil it, but whatever potential was left to have a worthwhile outcome becomes a nonsensical sequel baitng mess. Oh and its 6 hours...

As for the multiplayer well im mixed with it. The good things are the new guns are interesting. The point system allows freedom to get one of these bad boys in any fashion you want, add that with attachments some perks and a character editor ,it becomes a rather flexible customization thingy. When a match goes good and your playing with friends, the game can be very enjoyable, aswell as a decent time passer. However the negatives out way the positives. The maps are HUGE, and generally 12 players isnt going to fill these maps. You end up feeling like roaches in a maze because there are plenty of moments where there could be a shoot out going on, then suddenly it stops and its dead silence for like 15 seconds before another one starts. Another problem, the maps are just simply poorly designed. i cant name how many times i played a map where i saw a set of stairs that lead to a building window that had another set of stairs (or a ladder) leading up to it. Basically. You run out and get killed by some dude camping in a building window over and over again. Yes, despite how big these maps are, it still is camper friendly with areas like the building windows or some tank or box or freaking microwaves (im joking with the last one). It doesnt help that the spawns are pretty horrible too. Ive literally seen a guy spawn RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME before, someone has also spawned RIGHT BEHIND me and a friend aswell. Youd think with this new size of maps this would be fixed but no, it isnt.

Lag compensation was a problem in black ops 2, but it never effected me very badly. However there are plenty of occasions where ive shot people with about 10 bullets and i fall down within 3 shots. It doesnt help that riot shields and over powered weapons still tend to be overused by the absolutely abysmal community, which is still run by dumbass kids and teenagers who cant play anything else but call of duty.

Squad mode is pretty much an enchanced combat training. Loved combat training? Go for it...

Extinction is just IW attempt at out doing zombies from the treyarch games. Its only purpose is to be a short distraction and nothing more...

As for as graphics, its still rather 2007 looking. Even the xbox one and Playstation 4 versions dont look much better. Textures are still a hit or miss affair, animations look choppy at times, and nothing ever stands out. Thankfully, when gunfights get heated, the sound once again shines like a star! The music is however rather dull once again...

So thats about it. Theres really nothing terribly great about this game that we havent seen already. Even critics are starting to say the same thing (well except IGN but they love cod...). If you have black ops 2 or battlefield 4, theres no need to blow your well earned cash on this. Its a fine example on the FPS genres fall in to averageness. and corporate scams such as DLC to much the game "better".
