This action packed thrill ride makes some huge stumbles
The Gameplay is very, and i mean very, generic, for a PC title in particular. Now i won't go off and whine about how there is no lean, but I will say Infinity ward did nothing to make this title stand out, it is a very safe sequel designed to harness money from the success of the original. For example there are two or three moments in the Single Player campaign that try desperately to mimic the awesomeness of the Ghillies in the Mist Mission from Call of Duty 4, they all fail to compare to the pure awe of the that mission. They aren't bad missions necessarily but instead of trying to create something new to instill that same sense of awe in a different way Infinity Ward chose to play it safe and capitalize on repetition. Infinity Ward took a giant leap of faith taking a solid WWII franchise and throwing it into modern times and it turned out to be a huge payoff. Its sad to see they seem to have lost that sense of innovation.
The Multiplayer is one giant letdown. Not only does IWnet not deliver the performance of Dedicated Servers but there are many instances where i have a smoother, less laggy experience playing this game on my Xbox 360! There are also glaring imbalances in the Multiplayer *cough* Akimbo 1887's *cough* but while those imbalances may be annoying from time to time they aren't annoying as the hackers you are bound to come across while playing. I've only seen a few i have known for sure were hacking but its sad that you have to deal with this sort of thing, perhaps in time Infinity Ward will start to ban more of these people if they have even banned any already but i doubt it.
If you have the urge to play Modern Warfare 2 and don't have a PS3 or Xbox 360 than I would suggest getting the PC version. You're still getting a great, albeit stripped down version of the game in comparison to its predecessor on the PC, and the multiplayer will probably be around for at least the next few months before dieing a horrible death so you got nothing to lose, but you would've already played this game if that was the case.
