To play or not to play. That is the question.

I am not going to lie to you. I think this game is great. The graphics are top notch with a short but sweet single player campaign. The controls and gameplay are fantastic and very reminiscent of COD4. I have put in over 200 hours in multiplayer and have prestiged once to level 70. The prestige system itself enhances the replay value of the game, as there is always something to strive for, forcing you to re-earn perks and rewards and show off your rank and status. Multiplayer modes are plentiful and a lot of fun. All the above mentioned is shortlived however and the reason I have given this game a low score.

Here are some lowlights of the MW2 multiplayer system:

- Low limit players on matches...TDM has a max limit of 12/players (6per side). A big setback to players used to the nice and massive 16 vs 16 matches in COD4.

- Multiplayer is plagued with constant lag forcing the session to seek a new host or game to be ended prematurely.

- Lack of dedicated servers makes playing with friends more complicated and difficult. DS allow admin and moderators to kick or ban unwanted players. It also allows map selection and rotation where players are able to play easily on their favorite maps while sustaining a ranked server. Clans can be more easily identified and recruiting easier. All these benefits are lost with the IWNet multiplayer system.

- Hackers, hackers and more hackers. IWNet stated that their system was ingenious and prevents hacking efficiently. I strongly disagree. I play with a clan that enjoy many games including this one. We play with respect, integrity and are strongly against hacking. The more we play this game, the harder it is to find a match that is hacker free. Aimbotting/Wall Hacking and others have made this game much harder to enjoy. There seems to be no enforcement on hackers and the community is growing more of them. The replay value has just about ended for me. Hackers are now able to exploit their status as well as yours affecting rank and level. This defeats the whole purpose of striving for something.

It is a big shame how this franchise started with dedicated PC followers who end up getting the short end of the stick. Multiplayer is the primary reason the COD franchise is so sucessful and MW2 has fallen short on many levels.
