A cinematic singleplayer and a multiplayer that will keep you entertained for a long time, this game packs a punch!
Story:
Since I haven't played the first MW, I had problems following the story quite a bit. Especially with all of the jumping around going on between the narrators. But the plot itself, from what I got of it, was quite intriguing! It took awhile for me to get into it, but once I got the vibe of the story, I couldn't put the game down! It was unfortunately a little short (I finished it in 7hrs on medium). But I enjoyed it so much that I am ready to go and play it again!
Gameplay:
This is the aspect that really blew me away. MW2 sticks out from the crowd by creating these cinematic moments during the gameplay that become memorable. A simple example is breaching a door, you turn inside in slow motion and you get the chance to pop the heads off of those bad guys! Aside from that, MW2 plays pretty much like any other FPS where you take your gun and shoot your way through a linear mission.
Graphics:
I was able to play this game with the graphics maxed out, and what a beauty it was to see! So much detail in the textures! Gorgeous lighting! Character movement and interaction is very realistic and smooth.
Multiplayer:
The multiplayer for MW2 is very addictive! It's got me hooked from the get-go! You earn XP from killing people or completing mission objectives, in return you move up the ranks from recruit to general. In the process you get to unlock new weapons. The level cap is 70, but you then have the choice to "prestige", which basically puts you back to level 1 and you can do so 10 times. The game comes with a lot of different game types to keep you entertained for a long time! The online mechanism simply works!
Conclusion:
I can't hide it, this IS an expensive game. Even when you compare it to later releases such as Bad Company 2. But this just simply is such a good game! It's worth every penny! A captivating singleplayer working along side a solid multiplayer, all of this backed by a fun co-op mode to play with your buddy! I've enjoyed every second playing this game!
