Infinity ward has created a masterpiece.
The visuals in this game are crisp. You will be able to notice the huge improvement in the graphics compared to the first game. Environments are more detailed and colorful. Although it is not possible to interact with many objects in the environment, we could still make use of the environment during combat sequences. Enemies are also smarter compared to the first game and they will also try to outflank you using alternative ways. The sounds in this game are loud and clear and it is nice to hear the gun sounds. Enemies and allies shout commands to one another and explosions and vehicle sounds are crisp. I also have to say that the voice acting is very good.
Now to talk about the single player Campaign. I have only two words to describe it: Epic and awesome. Every single mission is unique and fun. I enjoyed every minute playing the campaign. Unique missions include the boat race, snowmobile chase and an underwater mission. Infinity Ward has done an excellent job in creating an epic campaign that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are many weapons to play with in the campaign and my favourite one was the predator missile where you use a laptop look alike and shoot and guide a missile towards the area that you wanna bomb at. There are many more fun and new weapons to toy with. I recommend at least using every weapon once just to get the full experience. The levels in the campaign are of medium length and they vary in action. However, there is one particular mission that is very disturbing in which you are tasked to shoot civilians in the airport. Luckily, IW has given the option of skipping this mission. However, there is one downside to the campaign mode: It is too short. You can roughly complete the story in about 7-8 hours.
Luckily, the shortcoming is overwhelmed by the absolutely fun spec-ops mode. In this mode, you will have to complete many challenges and earn stars to unlock bonuses. Challenges vary from time trials to escaping in races to shootouts and so on. This mode is very addictive and I have to say that it is longer compared to the campaign. You can play the mode in solo or with a friend in split screen or online. However, there are specific challenges where you have to play with a friend. This mode will make you comeback more than often to try to earn more stars and achieve a better timing. I have actually nothing to criticize about the spec-ops mode as I actually was addicted to this mode. If I had to say one, I would just say that I wish there was even more challenges to play.
Next up, multiplayer. What's there to say? All I wanna say is, multiplayer is absolutely awesome and is the star point in the game. Every single aspect of the multiplayer has been improved to a large extent. Its basically one of the best multiplayer games I have played in a long time.
IW could have improved this game definitely. Firstly, they should have made the story mode longer. What's the point of enjoying the story when it is only short-lived? Also, the story is a bit confusing to understand as you constantly shift between characters. Furthermore, I don't understand why they included the disturbing mission in the game? That mission has definitely hampered the image of the game. And finally, some bugs were found in the game. At one point, an enemy actually did float in mid-air when he was actually dead. Furthermore, if I am not wrong, there was one section in the campaign where there was constant respawning of enemies until I have reached the next checkpoint. These are the only main criticisms of the game.
To conclude, IW has definitely created a masterpiece that will definitely be active in the online community until MW3 comes out. Hopefully, the ongoing scandal between activision and IW will not affect the development of MW3 and I will be eagerly waiting for that game.
