While the best of the series, many aspects may leave gamers asking "why?"
Bad: Imbalance in guns, no anti-cheat protection, bullet registry is slightly broken, campaign is too short.
Note: Honestly, I disliked the game, but I will still review it fairly. That does not mean I am going to take the fan-boy approach and give it a glorified rating or review it has not earned.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is probably the best Call of Duty out there to date. It picks up almost immediately where the second one ended. That being said, you are quickly introduced to a new member to Price and Soap's crew: Yuri. Just like the second, the story's plot twists and turns as you get further in the game, making you wonder. However, the story is quite a bit short, and very easy. Also, the lack of replay value in the story may cause slight disappointment. In addition, the teammate AI is still useless as ever.
The spec ops (not including Survival) is quite a mirror of Modern Warfare 2. Regardless, it is fun. Survival, however, may be the best part of the game. Fighting waves of enemies to rank up for a new gun is quite fun. However, it can get repetitive fairly quickly. Even then, there are plenty maps to choose from.
Now to the multiplayer. The options of guns this time around is possibly the best listing of weapons. However, this also calls for aggravating imbalance. In addition, there is a new perk that delays the trigger of explosives such as claymores. This can be absolutely annoying for that sniper who has one door to watch, so they plant a claymore. Infinity Ward seems to have not took the hint from Black Ops, when the hit registry was broken, because the hits don't always register in Modern Warfare 3, either. The maps, while well designed visually, are often too tight. Possibly the tightest in the Modern Warfare series. Infinity Ward has also excluded Punk Buster, and not replaced it with another anti-hack program, as often (its worst in ground war) I find myself being head-shot over and over by someone.
