For Call of Duty, things go from Bad to Worse online.
User Rating: 6 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 X360
Activision/Infinity ward's latest iteration in the Call of Duty franchise has a great action filled story, all the bells and whistles of a Hollywood blockbuster. The online mode however suffers from issues that have recently plagued the last few releases. Re-spawn points that throw you directly into an enemy's cross hairs, match making, connectivity issues and the famed Elite service that Activision heavily marketed barely works. Even now I've had to link my gamer tag a second time to the Service. When I did, it just froze attempting to connect, which required a hard restart of the game. Next time I attempted to log in to Elite, it just kept attempting to connect. People paid $50.00 roughly for this service that guarantees DLC and other things (many of which are free anyway), but it isn't functioning. I'm ready to take the game back to Gamestop, take a loss but put what they give me down on Skyrim. However, I like many bought the Elite service for 1 year, so I'd be taking a heavy loss and that's my fault. Everyone should check out Metacritic's site and see the user/consumer reviews. At over 1000 ratings, the game is rated by the community at 2.6. That is HORRIBLE and the multiplayer reflects just how horrible it is. I believe the ratings that are given are primarily for the multiplayer. It just goes to show you how important having a strong multiplayer content is for games like these. Sadly, I fully believe MW3 will probably get GOTY just because of the sheer numbers that it will sell. This is one game that absolutely does not deserve that title. I'm not sure I will be buying the next Call of Duty game. Everything they put out over the last couple years has gone from bad to worse and there's no signs of improvement. Now for the disclaimer: I didn't force you to read this and this is an editorial based review. I'm not covering every little detail, this is just my opinion and mine alone.
