As good as it needed to be, to quench the masses
Infinity Ward and Activision, managed to remove aspects of this once fun game that made it great to begin with, ( like marathon perks) and instead of replacing them with something new and inventive, decided that the disk space was better suited for more non-interactive bushes and boxes in the underwhelming environments you get to lumber about in. Without perks like marathon or light weight or anything else that could give advantage to a player opting for speed rather than firepower, players tend to be cookie cutter copies of one another. All running 10 steps before having to stop and creep slowly forward ( like all our future soldiers suffer from emphysema?), aiming down the sights or their overly powerful SCAR weapons with M203 attachments ( only to be shot in the back by a randomly spawning enemy.) This lack of diversity in game style choices has lead to extreme camping with little consequence.
Aiding the active campers in their quest for glory are the newly computer generated multi-player maps. Each one systematically designed to destroy all logic in our future generations. Our poor, young players, trying to grasp at the notion they in fact can jump onto the hood of a moving truck 4 1/2 feet off the ground, but can't step up onto a 1 foot box. Not to mention the idea you must avoid foliage for fear of being stuck on their cement like edges, but blindly shooting through brick walls and public buses while getting head-shot is as easy as chewing gum. Apparently the wiki-generation is here sooner than we feared, and they're influencing others. Scary thought!
Look, I could go on and on, but the main point is. If you're like me and enjoy games that might take a tad more thought when choosing a strategy, or a least a game that gives you that choice. Modern warfare 3 shouldn't grace your shelves. Go back and play Modern warfare 2 (So I can finely find a game). Yet if you enjoy walking down, not running down (because running is somehow against the laws of physics in the near future), a couple linear paths. Straight at a mirror image of yourself firing a weapon..... well you might need some help, or at least a hug, but then Modern Warfare 3 is for you. And I wish you happy gaming.
