A immersive, fun, detailed experience, begging to be played
The singleplayer campaign gets on board right as the second game ended. You are rushing Soap Mactavish to a hospital, and from there the game jumps to New York where you are fighting in the Big Apple itself. Singleplayer is exactly what one would expect, a fun and short-lived experience. Modern Warfare 3 goes to 11 and stays there. There's no sign of dipping, and the game plays and feels perfect. The graphics are nothing special this time around, but with a few nice set-pieces and shadows tucked in to it, there's no real loss.
Of course, multiplayer returns, and is better than ever. Gone now are the COD Points, and now comes back in the old upgrading system of shooting and gaining experience points for upgrades. In Modern Warfare 2 getting upgrades was a long, and very anoying process, but here, everythign is re-designed so that you are constantly unlocking challenges. While your first few matches will be tough, over time you unlock weapons and killstreaks and will begin to see why this multiplayer is so damn good. The multiplayer maps are great too!
For the first time in the series history as well, the game finally focuses on teamwork with a new gametype called Kill-Confirmed and Point Streaks. Kill Confirmes is a new game mode that makes players pick up dog tags after killing other players. It destroys any concept of camping, and is an absolute blast. Point Streaks are what used to be killstreaks. You get points for doing certain things depending on the class, similar to that of killstreaks from MW2.
What it comes down to is a great experience, if a tad framiliar. Ignore the hate from the Battlefield fanboys, and do yourself a favor and buy this game. It is a seriously under-rated gem, so pick it up.
