Infinity Ward's new addition to the Modern Warfare series is a good one, but is it good enough?
Call of Duty sells a lot more copies than most games do as well...
And anyone who has seen how massive the lines are at a Call of Duty midnight release will agree with me when I say the lines for this franchise or the longest.
Modern Warfare 3's storyline picks up where Modern Warfare 2 left off...
Soap is still jacked up from that substantially nasty knife wound, and Nikolai is taking you to that place he mentioned.
But that is not all, World War 3 has just begun, and the ongoing attacks that Russia has been deploying against the US are just colossal.
When playing as Delta Force you are Sgt. Derek "Frost" Westbrook, when you play as the disavowed Task Force 141 we all remember from MW2, you play as Yuri an ex-Spetsnaz soldier who shares a mutual interest in hunting down Makarov, you will play as an SAS operative Sgt. Marcus Burns, you will briefly play as Andrei Harkov a security agent protecting the President of Russia, and you will briefly play as Captain Price who we all know so well.
The overall storyline is pretty compelling, although there isn't too much to learn besides the whole WW3 "Hell on Earth" concept.
And if you read my earlier reviews you will know I am not huge on explaining all the story's details, I am a reader's digest kind of guy.
The game is extremely fun, or EXTREMELY frustrating depending on the difficulty you set it to, I play the Call of Duty games on Veteran, but not everyone likes to be frustrated the entire game.
The shooting mechanics are pretty identical to Modern Warfare 2, just hold L1 to aim, and press R1 to fire, you will be doing that 80 % of the time, but the trick is it doesn't get boring.
The devastating impact of each bullet you fire is evident through all the saw dust, and bloodshed... No the weapons aren't all that intimidating, but they manage to kill of your enemies very quickly.
One good shot to the chest and an enemy is down, but on Veteran it is pretty much the same rules for you too, they get on good shot on you, and you could be pushing the daisies.
There are a lot of new weapons to play with in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but not all of them are that good of course, you will find yourself getting disappointed by the weakness of some weapons, and snipers aren't always one shot killers either, when an enemy is wearing some extra clothing, it usually takes about 2 sniper shots, and I am not a fan of that idea.
But really there isn't much that soils this all around fantastic experience, just the lack of a little more punch in the weapons.
There are also a lot of new gadgets that I won't go on and on to mention, but they are useful, for example (EMP Grenades, Portable Radars, etc.) you won't find a lack in variety concerning weapons or gadgets in MW3.
Multi-player as always is a blast, yes it is almost identical to MW2's Multi-player, but they did add things like weapon leveling, and some other small things as well.
The new Kill Confirmed mode forces players to work together to gain points, and ultimately claim victory, when you kill an enemy player, you will personally get credit for the kill, but your team will not get the point until you get the floating golden dog tags that rotate endlessly over the corpse of your enemy, when you grab an enemies dog tag, your team gets a point for the kill, if an enemy grabs their dead teammates dog tag, then they deny your kill, and thus you will not get credit for it, when a follow teammate is killed, red dog tags float over his corpse, if your enemy grabs it their team would get the point, but if you grab it, then you will deny them that kill. (Make Sense?)
Overall the new game mode requires extremely competitive players to come together and work as a team to be victorious.
The single-player campaign is a blast, and the storyline is very compelling.
My only complaint about single-player is that when you are on (Hardened/Veteran) difficulty, there are sequences that will leave you very frustrated, and the last mission of the game is sooo difficult on Veteran that it almost ruins the Climax for the player.
But then again, it isn't called "Difficulty" for nothing.
Overall MW3 is a must have when it comes to First Person Shooters.
PARENTAL ADVISORY
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is rated Mature for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, and Strong Language.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is an intense shooter, Violence is non-stop in MW3, someone is always dying, and bullets are always being fired, stabbings are frequent, and blood does flow.
When an enemy is shot, a brief splash of blood emits from the enemy, followed by a small spray, blood gets on walls, ceilings, floors, and about 60 % of enemies bleed a large puddle of blood after they are killed.
When stabbing people blood sprays from them, and when occasionally stabbing their neck blood continually sprays for about three seconds.
And Gore is only depicted once when a flashback of the first Modern Warfare shows a man get his arm shot off from a sniper, and the aftermath of this is seen from the backseat of a car, where you watch the armless man get in the front passenger's seat with blood spraying out of whats left of his arm.
There are two possibly disturbing scenes that people may want to know about... in the mission "Davis Family Vacation" the player watches through a recording video camera, a little girl and her mother play around in front of the camera, and the father holds the camera and can be heard talking behind the camera, a large truck pulls up next to the Davis family, and on the sidewalk is a large amount of birds, the girl walks up to the large group of birds and begins waving around her arms, and scares them off, and as she is doing this the van right next to the little girl explodes, the camera goes flying away from the scene, but crashes into the near by cement, and you can see part of the corpse of the dead mother, but her corpse is not graphic, and no blood is shown, but you watch has a large green gas begins to flow through the city, which is obviously an act of Chemical Warfare.
And the next disturbing part is also a flashback, in which you are someone who knows Makarov, the flashbacks are back to back, one is Makarov and you standing and watching as a large mushroom cloud rises from the distance.
But the most recognizable flashback is a flashback of the MW2 mission "No Russian", you hear Makarov say "Remember... No Russian" and then you hear the screaming of the hundreds of civilians they begin to open fire on in the Russian Airport, you are wounded from a gunshot wound, but you manage to drag yourself out of an elevator, you stumble upon a massive amount of civilian bodies, and the large pools of blood that the bodies lay in, you grab a dead security officers pistol, and follow Makarov and his goons from a distance, the bodies seem to be endlessly littered across the airport, and you begin to faint soon after.
Language is in abundance in MW3, the word "S**t" is heard often, alongside the words "Bas***d", and "B**ch", you will also hear "Damn" thrown in the mix as well, and supposedly "F**k" can be heard too, but I do not recall hearing any, but the possibility of them being there is no different, so just expect to hear the F-word frequently, if you don't then you and I both will remain confused about the "Strong Language" rating.
The Drug reference is simply an emblem you can apply to your player I.D. on Multiplayer which is a cannabis leaf.
And with every game's Multi-player, expect to hear other players say F**k or S**t often.
Well in the end this is a really good game, your opinion is yours, I hope this review helped ya...
Thanks for reading it, and try reading my other ones too...
