Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.....err I mean 3 has the basic World War 3 plot that many games these past three years have had. NATO versus Russia, the former USSR, etc. The game starts off where the 2nd left off and spits you right into the action. I say spit because it's not really a graceful intro into the new game as Soap is seen being rushed to a medic with the crew of Captain Price and Russian Loyalist Nikoli. After that the missions are haphazardly thrown into the mix combining uninteresting environments, repetitive shootouts, and unrealistic weapons play. The bad plot of this game and the massive amount of things exploding would make Michael Bay blush (or sue).
Well down to the basics. The graphics are similar to the second games with a less enthusiastic soundtrack compared to the previous two games. Gameplay is just plain boring with some memorable parts such as the London tube chase but even that doesn't help. Multiplayer hasn't changed but I never have been a fan of it. I would say the length is too short but with this game it couldn't have ended sooner.
Overall I would say if you want to try this game just rent it. Spend 60 bucks on something better.
