Infinity Ward has brought absolutely nothing new to the table of a franchise that desperately needed reviving and changing drastically ! The Campaign is what you'd expect from the previous titles with elements that where what I'd describe as "borrowed" from other FPS titles and even previous Call Of Duty's ! I Must admit I've not been a fan of COD since MW2 was realised and quite frankly ruined everything COD4 had built ! Black Ops did the same but worse it's only saving grace was Zombies mode which too wore really thin ! MW3 was COD's last chance in my eyes , last chance to up its game, listen to fan's requests and so on ! IT's FAILED horribly! I ended up playing through the game just to boost my trophy record. The game was laid out exactly the same as MW2 , literally the same , the graphics, game engine, multiplayer, spec ops are all identical to that featured in MW2 , hell the game is using the same engine COD4 did back in 2007 , c'mon guys its 2011/2012 now! Real fan's must be rather annoyed at the fact IW / Treyarch can't actually be bothered to improve the game engine to give they're fans a better experience , DICE built a completely new engine just to support they're ambitious idea that is Battlefield 3 , anyway this isn't a BF3 review so enough of that ! Back to MW3 ! 80% of the main reason I brought this game was for the Survival mode, much similar to Zombies , you face endless waves of enemies , only the enemies are soldiers not zombies! It's all sunshine and rainbows at first and very fun, untill you start to play a lot and it all becomes clear, there are only 5 different waves of enemies , regular soldiers, dogs, helicopters, jugganaughts and suicide bombers! no matter how may levels you survive these are the only enemies you'll ever encounter, you get 30 seconds between each round weather your ready or not, there's no way to prolong this time like a crawler on Zombies, this makes the game extremely difficult and annoying especially when you need to visit more than one of the Laptop's to buy either weapons, equipment or air support which are all stupidly placed miles away from each other ! When the next round does start the ememy seems to appear from literally nowhere , they just appear, somehow knowing exactly where you are and sometimes are shooting you before the AC130 guy has finished telling you "multiple targets are ON THE WAY to your location" So Spec Ops mode quickly p**sed me off leaving campaign and multiplayer left! Stick to zombies if your a wave survival fan its 100 times better ! Campaign mode is pretty much what I mentioned above, it wasn't a terrible campaign by any stretch of the imagination , but it wasn't tip top either. Killing the last boss was identical to the last boss in Black Ops ! 1 good thing on a brighter note was the Flash backs to COD4 ! look out for those , very nice touch's to be fair ! Now for multiplayer ! Where can I start ? Structurally laid out identically to all previous COD's , the usual suspects, rank ups, weapon attachments, perks, gun camo's(including the return of GOLDEN camo) , challenges and the usual game modes ! A few new weapons but nothing to brag about really ! Same old problems, Campers, hearbeat sensors, akimbo weapons being more accurate than someone ADS, quick scopers, killstreak spamming etc ! The game hasn't evolved for the better in anyway, the killstreaks just grant the better players the ability to mop the floor with the newer players where this should be the other way around, and there isn't 1 ounce of teamwork in the entire game, even in the so called TEAM DEATHMATCH mode ! everyone just seems to care about getting kills, why? because the game doesn't credit teamwork , there may aswell not be team based modes ! It seems all COD players care about is they're K/D ratio ! It's terrible ! LAG is also a terrible problem, I get a 24MB connection and it goes to waste when I'm running of someone else's lesser rate, a dedicated server has been demanded since COD4 and we still haven't got any ffs! If the games so popular why hasn't it got dedicated servers by now? The maps are also a big issue for me, it seems they've stuck maps from cod4 and MW2 together to make some kind of hybrid map which is blatantly obvious to the COD hardcore fan, they are also too small, endless amounts off times the enemy has thrown a grenade/semtex from his spawn point into mine and got a team kill, that's hardly fair or acceptable! Getting stuck on the environment is another thing that sucks, I mean it's almost impossible to run through a door way without hitting the side , this isn't too bad untill your being fired at and you can't help but think, "I would actually be alive if I hadn't got stuck" right? The perk set up is also ridiculous, I can't quote the names of the said perks but I do believe there is a set up which makes you literally invisible to everything besides the naked eye! seriously , the individuals that use this set up are usually found lying down in a corner with a claymore mine in front of them and have a heartbeat sensor on they're weapon! Everyone must of witnessed this at least once, to all those that do it I YOUR F**KING SCUM ! But the worst thing about this game online has to be the spawn points, there literally retarded, how in a million years does it make sense to spawn an enemy directly behind someone, they have zero chance ! It's pathetic ! I've spawned into a flash bang, sentry gun, automatic fire, several killstreak's, claymores , and now and then a random throwing knife ! this is totally bollocks lets be honest, there's immunity area like in Battlefield say , each team has a deployment area where the enemy cannot tread without dying ! I cannot understand how people actually enjoy this game or any COD to be quite honest , nothing has changed ! in a nut shell its utter bull **** ! Not enjoyable in the slightest ! the game has no structure in any way shape or form, there's no skill, no out playing, no talent, just a case of who see's the ememy first gets the kill ! 100% failure ! This game is a waste of money and time ! what ever platform you play on, do your selves a favour and save £45-50 and buy Battlefield 3 , it has better graphics, better engine, better campaign, better multiplayer , better weapons, realistic physics , vehicle warefare, huge maps, TEAMWORK, longer games, more rewards, literally everything about it is better ! This is coming from myself , I have both games , completed both campaigns, done both CO-OP modes and Played multiplayer on both to make up my mind !
Conclusion : Modern Warfare is a total utter failure ! I'd rate this 0/10 if it physically allowed me to !
